May is...

Blossoms: Apples, cherries, plum trees too. Everything blossoming is pink, purple or blue. (Rhyming is fun)

reading picnic: leftover birthday party pizza

School break: Who are we kidding, we haven't even attempted anything "sit-down schoolish" since the beginning of April. Although I have to say my son has elevated pond study to scientific discipline in and of itself. I love not having to deal with the year end run-around that school families deal with this month.

Green!: The first month of real green, the invigorating (almost) fluorescent, new green that gives way to a color soothing, deep and full.

Lilacs: Lilacs are a blossom but they deserve their own recognition as my favorite spring flower. The sweet and spicy scent from my backyard lilac sitting pretty on my dining room table makes me smile and breathe deeply all day.

Celebrating & Remembering: A party to celebrate the birth & life of my oldest child and Mother's Day; a perfect day just.for.me.

Hiking & Camping: The planning and packing to share nature discoveries, physical exertion, and beautiful views; enjoying days outdoors with my family and the blackflies.

Gardening: Trips to garden centers, feeling the dirt in our toes. Planting, weeding, digging; sharing my love for all things green, growing and blossoming with my kiddos. And harvesting! Our first meal of spring greens from our garden served on this, the last day of May.

Tat soi: lightly steamed for lunch today

Happy: Especially this year, May is my happy month. When things dreamed, hoped and planned for begin.

Hi there! I just followed your link from a comment you left over at earthy crunchy about time for friends. It's funny, I've been thinking the same thing!

It seems so difficult to make the time for friends these days, but I keep telling myself that this time, with my children so young, is fleeting. Kindred spirits are everywhere, and true friends, new and old, will be there waiting with a smile when the dust settles. (I hope so anyway :-)

Your blog is lovely, I will be back soon!!
