An end of summer camping trip at Perce

We met up with my parents this weekend to enjoy the end of summer with a wee camping trip. My parents were doing a cycling tour of the north shore of the Gaspé Peninsula. They finished last Friday in Percé, a quaint little town built around its namesake - Percé Rock.

Our friends don't live too far from the town of Percé so they came to join us also for the weekend.

Percé means pierced in French.  (The iconic Percé rock has a hole in one end. Hundreds of years ago it had two, until one eroded away.)

The two days we were gone were the most intense blue sky days I've seen all summer, barely a cloud in the sky. Made for some great photographs.

I'll share a few more photos tomorrow also.

Have you read the children's book Petite Suzanne?    It was written and illustrated by Marguerite de Angeli and takes place in the Gaspe near Perce Rock.   Her illustrations are lovely.   It's an old book, but maybe library nearby might have a copy.
