Laundry soap update

Submitted by renee on Thu, 2008-05-29 02:55.

Yikes, I forgot this little detail in my previously posted soap directions:

I use cold water wash and rinse. For an extra large laundry load I use 1/4 cup of laundry mix plus a squirt (very technical measurement) of Sal Suds. Because the soap isn't finely grated I whisk the 1/4 cup with 1 cup or so of hot water to help it dissolve before I add it to the washing machine.

I'm sure none of the 3 readers of this blog have done anything with my soap recipe but maybe somebody out there will find this information helpful. Otherwise, disregard and go on using your favorite, but hopefully not environmentally toxic, laundry soap.

Does printing it off for future reference count?? i am waiting for the clan to finish off the "store bought" soap before starting up!

We are looking at a house in Windham next week. . .Bigger. . .more rooms. . .a barn (for projects like soap making:-)

Maybe we can work a trade??

Maybe we can work a trade?? Like I'll make a batch of Simple Lard Soap for your community. Give it to you when it's ready and you guys can mix up your own laundry soap. I could also order the Sal Suds for you from the buying club I run, cheaper that way. And then later in the season you give us say, some broccoli or something from the garden??

My current batch of soap has lasted us 4 months. So it might last your house 1 or 2 months. Enough for a trial at least to see if it works for cleaning your clothes.

And I'm more than willing to do a soap demo and teach you folks as well.
