In the past few days I've noticed that although the night comes so soon now (it's dark when we sit down to eat supper) the days have been lovely and golden. Gone are the fiery reds and in their place are burnished coppers, yellow and bronze. These golden days.
I forgot to mention that I love your clothesline photo! : ) I am so in love with photos of laundry on the line!
I have no choice, as we don't own a dryer. So it's either on the line or in the house on racks. Hanging laundry is a lovely part of home life.
It's a very nice time of year. Warm enough to be outside a the parkin the day but I know how quickly that will come to an end. We will find ourselves inside most of the time soon. I love your photos!
god, portland (and its photographers) really is beautiful! nicola http://whichname.blogspot.com

ah.. but I don't live in Portland (couldn't afford to). I live in a city 45 minutes away. A grittier, more blue collar kind of place but a town we love nonetheless. Portland is gorgeous but these photos are all local smile.
oh i love these photos so much. they remind me so much of our afternoon walks these days. blankets of leaves and that lovely golden glow. i love maine in the fall... :)

Beautiful light, beautiful children, beautiful photos, beautiful you! Thanks for letting me bask in those golden hues on a dark and cold night!
you rocked again. these pictures are gorgeous. And, no dryer? I'm impressed. Have you ever had one? How do you deal with crunchy towels?
Ever since moving to this house 4 years ago we have not owned a dryer. I wrote about it here:

Crunchy towels? Love em'! Nothing beats the smell of line dried laundry. And seriously hanging laundry is a pleasant chore, especially since my children do most of it (tee, hee).
As silly as it sounds, I will miss hanging laundry up in our dining room this winter. We sold the wood stove after Glen realized while working on another local house that the timber framing could very well be going straight into our chimney. I have no idea why builders used to do things like that, but now we won't be using our chimney for wood burning anymore :.0(
Darn!
prequel to the First snow this morning! My morning commute went from fluries in Turner, to a winter wonderland by the time I hit New Gloucester & Gray. I couldn't resist pulling over and snapping a couple of photos with my cell phone. Though not near as beautiful as your camera would have captured it ~ the first snow is always beautiful, unexpected and magical. And so, It begins......Mother nature's beautiful golden gown of Autumn is shed & she has begun to don the white flanel pj's of winter, as we fall into the chill of November.
saw this on SS ~it sings a still song of life....bliss
Nice to see clothes drying on a clothes line. It gives one a chance to be out doors.
I remember the times when it rains and had to make a dash and grab all the clothes before they got wet.
